Welcome to Room 106!
My name is Mrs. Rudh and this will be my sixth year as a kindergarten teacher.  I am so excited to meet you and your families. My class will be learning to read this year. What fun!  Our kids will also will learn how to write as writers.  We have been getting to know our new friends. We are working hard and know the way our kindergarten works.
During the winter months: We are practicing learning about rhyming words, phonics, and reading strategies.
  • We our practicing writing and naming letters.
  • We write every day. We are both writers and readers.
  • We meet with Mrs. Rudh and Mrs. Torres in reading groups. We like to read.
  • We are learning beginning sounds and also learning some new  and high-frequency words-the, am, a, I like, and the color words.
  • We have been reading with Mrs. Vega's fourth grade class. They are great learning partners. They help us point to the words and understand what the books are about.
  • In math we have been making patterns and graphs.
  • We are counting and learning to recognize numbers bigger numbers. Most of us can count to 130.
  • We sort and use counters.
  • We are working with shapes.
  • We are counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's. We are learning to add and subtract small numbers.
  • Please read every day with your child and return their homework and book bags. Thank you.
