We have been studying all types of coins, from penny values to
quarters, and everything in between. In our classrooms we focus
attention on comparing 2 sets of coins to determine who has more, then
decide how much more. Along with direct instruction, the students
also do a lot of paired work, and games to help reinforce their
learning. Working with money can be a challenging subject for
some students and we hope that the students are working on these
concepts at home as well as school.
Since we have a well rounded knowledge of the analog clock, we have
moved on to transferring analog time to digital time.
During
reading we have focused on comprehension skills, as well as decoding
strategies (what to do when you come to a word you don't know), and
fluency. We have also begun to ask higher order questions, which
helps students dig deeper into the stories we read. ___________________________________________________________
