SEM at Farnsworth includes a variety of experiences for students.
Students in grades fourth through sixth will participate in video productions which provides an opportunity for students to learn and apply group skills and higher-order thinking. There are many video formats/genres that lend themselves to classroom projects. and which push students to learn a wider variety of skills
.
Morning announcements (requirement)
Video Production- Classrooms will rotate to develop Morning Announcements, every day, and also broadcast events, like the Boeing 787 assembly or the B-25 fly over.  students will work on visual literacy and how we are persuaded through creating commercials and movies.  In this process, students learn the grammar of film (film terms), the power of the media to persuade and how to tell a story visually

Public Service Announcement (PSA)
Students design a PSA to speak out on an issue that affects their world. The goal is to build awareness, start a discussion, or change negative behaviors.

Students create a video of a science experiment.
They start with the topic, materials, procedure, and their hypothesis. Then they present the experiment including their results. They end by connecting the experiment to the “real world.
