Readers Theater Rocks! First graders are making puppets to act out characters in books they are reading. Readers Theater promotes cooperative interaction with peers and makes reading fun. Readers Theater provides students with a legitimate reason to reread books and to practice fluency.
Pumpkin Capers!
Mrs. Drewelow's grandfather grew pumpkins for her class. Students sorted pumpkins by color, size, and shape.

"White Rabbit's Coloring Book" activity Ms. Sima joined us for a fun filled activity using "White Rabbit's Coloring Book". In this book, a curious white rabbit decides to take a dip into some colored paint cans. When he dips into more than one color, he turns into a new color. We found out that yellow and blue together make green, and red and blue together make purple. Ms. Sima helped us to understand the color combinations by demonstrating the color changes with her own, homemade rabbits, made just for this story!

Apple Orchard Field Trip This past fall, first graders visited the apple orchard. They learned lots of apple facts, enjoyed a hay ride, and picked apples right from the tree. Students brought back apples to make apple sauce in the classroom. Mmmm!
