Wow! I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving! Last week we learned a lot about Hmong new year. This week we will be working on Thanksgiving.
Wishing you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving Break.
During writers workshop we are working on functional writing. We have written many lists--which include: the months of the year, days of the week, our friends, numbers, etc. We have also worked on writing about Hmong New Year, and will be writing about Thanksgiving. Reader's Workshop keeps us all very busy. We have worked on a song called, 'Walking in the woods.' We are now working on the story, 'It Didn't Frighten Me.' To start the month we read a story, 'What comes first?' We've been doing a lot of predicting and finding out if our predictions were correct. The students have also been working on: reading left to right, reading the left page before the right, knowing that sometimes the order of things does not change, real and imaginary and so much more. Every day we have worked with our calendar learning our: days of the week, months of the year, what date of the month it is. We also working on counting by 1's, 5's and 10's, we are learning how to tally and make bar graphs about the weather. Please keep working with your child on counting to 31, making patterns and counting backwards from 10. Please check our web page often for updates!
Parents- you are always welcome on our field
trips or to stop in to say "hi" and spend some time with us at school.
This school year will be productive and I am convinced that we can make
your child's experience and educational growth second to none-- and fun
at the same time.
Take care,
Mrs. Jenny Brown ;-) room 101
