Welcome to the Computer Lab!
Farnsworth has a computer lab is equipped with 32 eMacs and two networked printers (one color). At the start of 2005, we installed a Smartboard to provide more interactive learning for our students.  We are currently running every machine on OS X.3.  All students, kindergarten through sixth grade, participate each week in a 35 minute technology class. The goals are to maximize student fluency in the use of technology, to enhance the content curriculum of the classroom, and to prepare the students for a lifetime of technology utilization.

Some key components are:

Content area skills, including Science, Math, Language Arts and Social Studies, are reinforced through a variety of wonderful software programs.

Beginning keyboard skills are introduced in first grade and fluent by 3rd grade; Sixth graders will type 30 or more words per minute.

Technology skills are taught through a project based curriculum.  Be sure to check out your student's projects on in the Computer Lab page!

Introduction to Technology
A student shall use appropriate computer technology to access information and to produce products by:
- gathering information from electronic sources; and
- producing products and selecting language, format, and graphics appropriate for the purpose and audience using word processing.

Fourth and Fifth Grades
Graduation standard


The student shall use appropriate computer technology to access, evaluate and organize information and will complete products by:
-completing products and selecting language, format and graphics appropriate for the purpose and including word processing, graphics and multimedia presentations
-recognizing and using appropriate keys and techniques for entering data, and keying written work or both, at an age-appropriate level and speed and accuracy.

Sixth Grade
Graduation standard


A student shall use appropriate technology to access, evaluate, and organize information and to produce products by:
-producing and selecting language, format and graphics appropriate for the purpose and including word processing, graphics and multimedia presentations and spreadsheets.

Besides the district technology standards, we also utilize the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and NETS (National Technology Standards for Students) to assess students learning.

Funding Factory Recycling
We are recycling Laser Cartridges at Farnsworth!

New ibook Cart
Towards the end of school last year, we were able to purchase another set of wireless ibooks (16) and a cart for technology integration.  Teachers will be able to check them out for their classroom to do research, digital learning, word processing, etc.  We now have four wireless ibook carts.
